Vince McMahon is bringing back the XFL, promising to "to give the game of football back to fans."
The league will relaunch in 2020. There will be 8 teams with 40-man rosters. a 10-game regular season and a post-season featuring 2 semi-finals and a championship game.
Nobody with a criminal background will be eligible to play.
"The new XFL will be fan-centric. With all the things you like to see, and less of the things you don't," McMahon said during a press conference Thursday, January 25. "We will present a shorter, faster paced, easier to understand game."
This is McMahon's second attempt at a pro football league. He teamed with NBC to found the XFL in 1999.
Play began in 2001, but never really caught on with American viewers. NBC pulled out of it's agreement with McMahon after the inaugural season and it folded.
