Troy Ave was injured on Sunday, December 25, when bullets fired by an unknown assailant grazed his head and hit him in the shoulder.
The New York Daily News reports that Ave, born Roland Collins, was driving a red Maserati convertible in Brooklyn, New York around 4:20 p.m. on Christmas Day, when a gunman wearing a hoodie pulled down over his face, walked up and started shooting.
The rapper's girlfriend was in the car with him at the time, but apparently escaped injury.
“He looked to his left. He saw that the guy had a gun and was about to fire, and he started driving away,” his attorney, John Stella said. “He continued driving and he reached the point where he was bleeding pretty profusely, and apparently a good Samaritan drove him and his girl a couple of blocks the rest of the way to Brookdale.”

This is the second time within the last 7 months the BSB Records CEO has been targeted.
As we previously reported, Troy was backstage at Irving Plaza in New York City during a T.I. concert on May 25, when he was approached by someone he had beef with and a fight ensued.
As Troy reportedly attempted to wrestle a gun away from his attacker he was shot in the leg. His friend/bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter, was struck by a bullet and died at the scene. Two other concert goers were also injured.
Based on surveillance footage that showed Troy firing a weapon inside the venue he was arrested and charged with attempted murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
He is currently out on $500,000 bond.
Due to a lack of witnesses willing to come forward no other arrests in the incident have been made.
The rapper's attorney, Scott Leemon, issued a statement on the Christmas Day shooting.
“Tonight, Troy Ave was targeted again... on Christmas. In Brooklyn, going to meet his family for the holiday, he was shot two times. Thankfully, he will survive the second attempt on his life. As we have said from the beginning – he is a victim. We pray for his speedy recovery.”
Troy is currently hospitalized at Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn.
