SOUTH BRONX (WABC) -- A 17-year-old suspect is in police custody in a shooting outside of a Bronx school that killed one teenager & wounded 2 others.
"This morning, 17-year-old Jeremiah Ryan was arrested & charged with murder, attempted murder, and criminal possession of a weapon," said NYPD Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell at a press conference on Saturday.
Police say a ghost gun may have been used in the fatal shooting. Officers recovered 6 shell casings at the scene.
The teenage girl who was shot and killed was identified Saturday morning as 16-year-old Angellyh Yambo.
Investigators said Yambo had just left Bronx Preparatory Charter School in the South Bronx when gunfire rang out at the corner of E. 156th And St. Anns around 1:45 p.m.
Yambo was struck in the chest while another 16-year-old girl & a 17-year-old boy were each hit in the leg.
All 3 were taken to Lincoln Hospital where Yambo was pronounced dead.
The other teens are expected to survive their injuries.
The teenagers are believed to be innocent bystanders.
Police said the shooting stemmed from 2 people who were shouting and gesturing toward each other from across the street.
"The gentleman on the east side of the street pulls out a firearm and he discharges his firearm in the westbound direction," NYPD Chief McCormack said.
