Fresh off the success of the Straight Outta Compton movie, F. Gary Gray, has been confirmed as the director for the forthcoming film Fast & Furious 8.
Gray made the announcement via his Twitter page Thursday, October 8. He also confirmed an April 14, 2017 release date.
"Cant ask for better partners than Vin [Diesel], Neal [Moritz] & Universal, Excited to bring u the next chapter of the #FastFamily saga," he wrote.

Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Jason Statham are confirmed to star in what will be the first of a trilogy that will end the movie franchise.
"Universal has been so good to me and so trusting of the vision ... they have been like family ... I promised the studio I would deliver one last trilogy to end the saga," Diesel wrote on his Facebook page.
