Wide receiver Roy Williams of the Dallas Cowboys is learning the hard way that money can't buy you love.
Williams mailed a pre-recorded marriage proposal along with a $76,000 engagement ring to Brooke Daniels, a former Miss Texas, right before Valentine's Day of this year. Daniels said "thanks" for the ring, but that marriage thing isn't going to happen.
Williams, who reportedly also mailed $5,000 for dental work and a baseball for Daniels' brother, is now suing to get the ring back.
It's unclear why Williams mailed the engagement ring instead of proposing in person, but an affidavit filed in Ector County, Texas also lists Michael Daniels, Brooke's father as a defendant.
Daniels said he would return the ring to Williams.
"He said (to Brooke Daniels), 'I'm not like a lot of people, I don't want the ring back. You'll eventually come back to me,' and she didn't," Michael Daniels told the Odessa American. “I want to wash my hands of it. It’s just a hassle. I’ll take care of my daughter. I don’t need him.”
