We've seen this scenario play out many times before. Promoter books artist for appearance,.. an argument over certain details occurs... artist wants payment... promoter refuses... violence erupts.
That's reportedly what happened when Sean Kingston was contracted to host and perform at Avalon in Hollywood on Wednesday, June 4.
According to TMZ, Kingston was paid half of his $11,000 fee up front. The promoter became angry because the singer showed up 3 hours late and failed to adequately promote his appearance beforehand.
When Kingston demanded the other half of his fee the promoter balked. Kingston then allegedly ordered his security team and 4-5 friends who came with him to pin the promoter against a wall.
Several thousand dollars, a watch and an iPhone were stolen.
Police were called to the scene. They acknowledge the victim named Kingston as the person who ordered the attack, but the singer isn't listed in the police report.
Cops questioned the bodyguards, who denied any wrongdoing. The watch and iPhone were eventually found at the venue, but not the money.
No arrests have been made.
