Erica Garner died Saturday, December 30. She had been in a coma since Christmas eve after suffering a massive heart attack. She was 27-years old.
The news of Erica's passing was confirmed via her official Twitter account.
"She passed away this morning. The reports are real. We didn't deserve her.," the statement read. "When you report this you remember she was human: mother, daughter, sister, aunt. Her heart was bigger than the world. It really really was. She cared when most people wouldn't have. She was good. She only pursued right, no matter what. No one gave her justice."

Erica became an outspoken critic of police brutality following the 2014 death of her father, Eric Garner, on Staten Island, N.Y. He had been placed in a choke hold by an NYPD cop while being arrested on suspicion of selling single cigarettes from packs without tax stamps. His last words of "I can't breathe" became a rallying cry for political activists across America.
Our deepest condolences go out to Erica's family and friends.
