NEW ORLEANS  (WDSU) —At least 15 people are dead and 35 others hurt after a man drove a truck into a crowd at Bourbon and Canal streets in New Orleans on New Year's Day in a terrorist attack, according to the FBI.

It happened around 3:15 a.m. toward the end of New Year’s celebrations in New Orleans and hours before the kickoff of the Allstate Sugar Bowl, a college football quarterfinal held in the city’s Caesars Superdome.

According to the Associated Press, investigators have reviewed video of three men and a woman placing explosives in New Orleans amid the investigation into the terrorist attack.

The FBI confirms the suspect, Shamsud Din Jabbar, 42, of Texas, is not believed to have acted alone.

Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, has died. He died peacefully at his home in Plains, Georgia, “surrounded by his family,” the Carter Center said in a statement Sunday.

Carter, 100, became the oldest living former president in US history in March 2019, surpassing George H.W. Bush. He was the first American president to reach triple digits.

Carter was a peanut farmer and US Navy lieutenant before going into politics, eventually serving one term as governor of Georgia and as president of the United States from 1977 to 1981

Rosalynn Carter, the former pres

ident’s wife of more than 75 years, who was known for her mental health advocacy and humanitarian work, died in November 2023 at 96. The Carters were the longest-married presidential couple in US history.

The accomplishments during the presidency of Jimmy Carter, who died Sunday at age 100, are “unparalleled” in the past century, his biographer said Sunday.

“His accomplishments are quite amazing. And unparalleled, I would argue, in this century,” Carter biographer Kai Bird said, after listing several of the former president’s biggest accomplishments.

Bird argued Carter “created the modern vice presidency” and made the controversial decision to appoint Paul Volcker chairman of the Federal Reserve “knowing that Volcker was going to jack up interest rates and restrict the money supply in a way that would be perhaps disastrous to his own reelection bid.”

He also pointed to Carter’s foreign policy decisions, including treaties declaring the canal neutral and open to all vessels and providing for joint US-Panamanian control of the territory until the end of 1999, when Panama would be given full control — an issue recently politicized by President-elect Donald Trump.

OG Maco passed away last night surrounded by family in a Los Angeles hospital, TMZ Hip Hop has learned.

The "U Guessed It" rapper had been hospitalized since December 12 after suffering a gunshot wound to the head. Sources close to the situation tell us Maco's coma took a turn and he went into critical condition, and he was unable to be revived.

Doctors had been struggling to get a proper brain scan in attempts to flush out all the toxins in Maco's system since he was admitted earlier in the month.

We're told his family flew in from out of town and are shaken up over the loss.

False reporting of Maco's death flooded social media, but as we told you at the time, Maco was rushed to the hospital after police responded to a neighbor's 911 call of hearing a gunshot go off nearby. A firearm was later recovered close to Maco.

The Atlanta native carved out his rap legacy out in 2014 with his viral banger "U Guessed It," cementing the hitmaking factor for QC Records.

He would continue to push the hip hop envelope musically -- earning a spot on the 2015 XXL Freshman alongside Vince Staples, K Camp and others before medical issues, including a flesh-eating disease, altered his course.
