Kanye West has flexed his economic muscles to the heads of Gucci and Louis Vuitton. The rapper, formerly known as the Louis Vuitton Don, is trying to make moves in the worlds of fashion and business. At this point he's not above making threats to get his way.
He also believes he will go down as one of the most important men in the history of the world.
Kanye sat down with Toro of radio station 92.3 NOW New York today and had this to say.
"What happened while I was out in Paris to meet with the head of Louis Vuitton. He said, 'I don't know why I should meet with you.' I said let me explain to you or the head of Gucci why you should meet with me. 'Everybody in New York don't buy Louis Vuitton until after January.' Now do you wanna meet with me? Influence, they think that I don't realize my power. They wanna marginalize me. I'm not gonna be 45 years old in the club. I'mma be running a content. experience and product company. I'm gonna be what y'all consider or classify as the new Disney, as the new Steve Jobs, as the new Howard Hughes, as the new David Stern, as the new Michaelangelo. That's where I'mma be.".
West also talked about his dealings with Nike and big corporations
“When I had the opportunity to work with Nike, what I asked them to do is create a small facility for me to be able to continue to create and allow me to get royalties off of what I created. They said, ‘No. We won’t give you royalties because you’re not a professional athlete.’ I said, ‘What about the Yeezys?’ They said, ‘We don’t care about that.’ So I went to a different company that's gonna support, let me create and let me get royalties. 'Cause at the end of the day, it’s cool to be cool. But people lining up for the Yeezys and daddy not getting paid ain’t gonna mean nothing to North ten years from now. I see what time it is. It's Drake season. They would love for someone who's as rebellious as me to lose relevance.They want to marginalize me until I’m no longer relevant."
