Last month movie fans got excited over the first official image of The Bourne Legacy but now they have something else to look at.
Universal Pictures have released the first official trailer of the upcoming film and no doubt it will get audiences even more excited.
Staying true to the word teaser, the short trailer begins by not fully exposing the film's main character, Aaron Cross.
He's back: Jeremy Renner takes the lead as Aaron Cross in The Bourne Legacy
Trouble lies ahead: Renner plays a CIA operative who battles the consequences of Jason Bourne's actions
Played by U.S. actor Jeremy Renner, Cross picks up the Bourne story where Matt Damon left off.
The film is the fourth installment of the series based on the Jason Bourne novels written by Robert Ludlum.
More violence: Fans of the Bourne films can expect lots of action in the fourth movie
'There was never just one': Cross follows in Bourne's footsteps as he fights and kills to survive
Taking on the role of a CIA operative and leaving his old life behind, Cross fights, kills and survives the ordeals that have been brought to him as a result of Bourne.
And from the scenes shown in the trailer, it seems he has gone rogue the same way Bourne did.
The film also stars Edward Norton as Byer, the antagonist of the story, who obviously sees Cross as a threat.
The antagonist: Edward Norton plays Byer who is trying to bring Aaron Cross down
"Jason Bourne was just the tip of the iceberg," he utters as he tries to figure out a way to bring the U.S. government operative down.
Starring alongside Renner and Norton is Rachel Weisz as fellow protagonist Stephanie Snyder, and Joan Allen, who has reprised her role as Pam Landy.
Director Tony Gilroy was keen to explain that Renner was not replacing Damon in the film's franchise.
Back for more: Joan Allen reprises her role in the film as Pam Landy
"This is not a reboot or a recast or a prequel," he told Mania.com.
"There will be a whole new hero, a whole new chapter…this is a stand-alone project. The easiest way to think of it is an expansion or a reveal… Jason Bourne will not be in this film, but he’s very much alive.
"What happened in the first three films is the trigger for what happens. I’m building a legend and an environment and a wider conspiracy."
In a tricky situation: In one scene Cross funds himself in the mountains loading up his gun
Last November, Renner briefly spoke about the film during an interview with Empire magazine.
"My character is called Aaron Cross, but he ends up having a bunch of different names," he said. "For fans of the franchise, ['The Bourne Legacy'] has that same ticking clock, but it's a new program and new characters. It's the same tempo and pace but more expansive and bigger. The differences are pretty vast but you'll know it's a 'Bourne' movie."
Looking over his shoulder: The highly anticipated film will be released in the U.S. on August 3
