Jay Z's Roc Nation Sports agency appears to have added another big name client. ESPN reports that Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh will be represented by RNS in his upcoming contract negotiations and marketing.
Suh, who is one of the premier players in the NFL at his position, is entering the final year of the five-year, $60 million rookie contract he signed in 2010.
After firing his agent, Roosevelt Barnes, last month Suh made the decision to go with Jay's agency. The contract negotiations with the Lions will serve two purposes. The team doesn't want their best defensive player to become a free agent, but they also want to reduce the $22.4 million his current contract will count against the cap next season.
Trading the Pro Bowl player they selected with the second overall pick in the 2010 draft is not something the Lions want to do. Expect a long term contract to be worked out that will reduce Suh's huge cap number and allow the team to retain him for many years to come.
Suh is the biggest NFL client to be represented by Roc Nation Sports. They also currently represent Geno Smith, Kevin Durant, C.C. Sabathia, Robinson Cano, Victor Cruz and Skylar Diggins.
