Roc Nation Sports has recently celebrated the signings of New York Yankees player Robinson Cano, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith and Tulsa Shock female B-baller Skylar Diggins, but the Smith signing is proving troublesome.

The NFL Player's Association is looking into whether Jay broke union rules by helping to recruit Smith, a recent second round pick by the Jets out of West Virginia University.

Shortly after being drafted, Geno fired his agents. He subsequently signed with Roc Nation. Smith posted a pic with Hov. The caption read: "Ballin til they ban us! #rocboys." The photo was later deleted.

The union's "runner rule" only allows certified agents to recruit players. Jay is not currently certified. The NFLPA is trying to find out if the rapper participated in persuading Smith to sign with his company.

Smith has publicly stated that Jay-Z did not recruit him, but according to a report by USA Today, Smith has told a source that Hov was active in recruiting him. Jay also reportedly lined up Boston attorney Kimberly Miale to handle all of Smith's contract negotiations.

Miali is NFL Players Association-certified. She has previously represented two clients who did not make an NFL roster. If the NFLPA finds out that Jay violated the "runner rule" he can't be penalized because he's not under their jurisdiction. However, Miale could have her certification suspended.

The NFLPA has sent Roc Nation a letter asking them to provide more information on Smith's recruitment and his relationship with the company.
