With CD sales slowly declining artists are having to think of unique ways to market their music. Nipsey Hussle came up with an ingenious plan for his Crenshaw mixtape.

The West Coast emcee released the project on Tuesday, October 8th. It's available for free download from the usual sources such as Datpiff. He also printed up a limited amount of hard copies, which he put on sale for $100 apiece via http://iamproud2pay.com/

In addition to the CD, fans who purchase it also get an autograph and a concert ticket

Jay Z, the architect of a deal with Samsung earlier this year that allowed his Magna Carta Holy Grail album to become the first CD to be certified platinum on the day of it's release, can appreciate a good idea when he sees one.

The Roc Nation mogul bought 100 copies of Nipsey's mixtape himself and posted the photo on his website

Nipsey thanked Hov and encouraged other artists to follow his lead.

Hussle says he's made $100,000 off of the tape so far.

"I got a DM on Twitter from a respected hip-hop journalist and he was just like, 'Hov respects the move, salute,' " Nipsey told MTV News on Wednesday (October 9). "A little while later, I got an email that came through my team that was like, 'Roc Nation, on behalf of Jay Z wants to buy 100 units. Who do we pay? When can we get the shipment out?' "
