Indiana Pacers player and his wife, Katrine Saltara, were stabbed while partying at 1 OAK nightclub in New York City on Wednesday, April 8.
TMZ reports that the incident happened around 4 a.m. Copeland, 6' 8", 235 lbs, was stabbed in the stomach. Katrine received wounds to her arm, breast and butt.
"We were attacked out of nowhere by a f*cking black civilian," Katrine said outside of the club. "We have nothing to say. We are scared for our lives."
22-year-old Shezoy Bleary was taken into custody. Police say he interrupted a conversation between Copeland and his wife and an altercation ensued. Bleary is accused of using a switchblade during an attack.
Two Atlanta Hawks players, Pero Antic and Thabo Sefolosha, were also taken into custody for trying to prevent police from setting up a crime scene.
Copeland, Katrine and another woman, 53, were taken to Bellevue Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
