Scott Leemon, the lawyer defending Troy Ave against charges brought against him stemming from a shooting that took place May 25 at a T.I. concert in New York City, is frustrated with the way the NYPD is handling his client's case.
"What troubles me most is the misinformation that's being sent out. NYPD knows Troy didn't shoot himself. They know Troy didn't shoot his bodyguard. That man died a hero. And to imply anything that Troy actually hurt his life long friend is absolutely insane and irresponsible," Leemon told Fox 5 New York's Lisa Evers on Wednesday, June 1.
Leemon insisted that scientific evidence will prove Troy's innocence and asked for public assistance in helping to free the BSB Records CEO.
"What we're doing tonight is we're gonna ask anyone who was there ... and anyone who has any information or anyone who was there ... and if anyone knows anyone that was in that VIP room we have set up a special email address," Leemon said. "Because we know some people have trouble working and talking to NYPD. Help us, help me defend Troy."
The attorney goes on to give out an email address for witnesses to write him with information regarding the case.
When asked what assurances he could offer tipsters that they would remain anonymous, Leemon didn't make any guarantees.
"I really can't promise anything. All I'm doing is I'm asking for help," he explained. "We have a man here who is being accused of killing his best friend. He didn't do it and I need help to defend him."
