A Las Vegas Burger King employee is in police custody after threatening to "shoot up" the place if he didn't get more hours.

KNTV reports that 33-year old Steven Ramirez was upset because his hours had recently been reduced. On Tuesday night, January 23, he confronted a manager at the restaurant, who called police.

"That manager took that threat very seriously and did exactly what that manager should've done," said Retired Metro Lt. Randy Sutton. "If an individual is going to make a threat, take a threat seriously."

During the ordeal the manager was able to get 6 employees and 4 customers out of the back door safely.

When cops arrived they took Ramirez into custody. A 30-round magazine with 15 bullets for a gun was found in his pocket.

After authorities obtained a search warrant, they also found a partially disassembled semi-auto rifle and a machete in the man’s backpack.

Ramirez is now facing the following charges:

  • Carrying a concealed weapon without a permit
  • Carrying a concealed weapon (machete) without a permit
  • Own/possess a gun by a prohibited person

He is being held at Clark County Detention Center.
