Gunman Gregory Paul Ulrich, 67, allegedly opened fire inside Allina Health Clinic in Buffalo, Minn., on Tuesday, critically injuring five and causing the evacuation of nearby schools. At a press conference, police said Ulrich, 67, of Buffalo, has had contact with officers since 2003, & is "no stranger to law enforcement."
Ulrich had been staying at the Super 8 Motel in the area where multiple suspicious devices was found, police said. Investigators believe he was acting alone.
At least five people were critically injured & the gunman was reportedly taken into custody. Up to 15 people total were possibly injured, per reports.
Schools in Buffalo were locked down during the incident & the two closest schools, Tatanka Elementary STEM School & PRIDE Transitions, were evacuated to Buffalo High School.
"The district acted quickly with the help of the Buffalo Police Department and Wright County Sheriff's Department to make sure that our students are safe & secure," school officials said in a release. "Our thoughts go out to those directly involved with the situation."
