2017 was a bittersweet year for Young Dolph. The Memphis rapper released three albums, but was also involved in two near-death experiences.
On February 26 Dolph, born Adolf Thornton Jr., was in Charlotte for CIAA weekend when his SUV was fired on while stopped at an intersection. It was hit with at least 100 bullets.
The 32-year old escaped injury because the vehicle was bulletproof.
He later taunted the shooters in the song "100 Shots" by rapping: "A hundred shots, a hundred shots/ How the fuck you miss a whole hundred shots?"
On September 27 Dolph wasn't so lucky.
He was staying in the Loews Hollywood Hotel, when an argument with three men turned violent. As the fight moved into the valet area one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Dolph in the arm and buttocks.
Now fully recovered, Dolph spoke to TMZ Monday, January 22, while leaving Phipps Plaza in Atlanta.
"The shooting" just let me know I'm a powerful individual. [I need to] stay away from negativity. Stay away from suckas," he said. "Keep doing what I'm doing. It's a lot of money to get."
He offered the same advice to Kodak Black when asked about his current legal problems.
