When Westside Gunn entered the rap game he had a plan and things are coming to fruition. The Griselda Records movement is as strong as ever, with Conway the Machine and Benny the Butcher becoming stars.
Gunn also knew the year he would hang up the mic. He's talked about in interviews, but people didn't know it would be at the height of his career.
On the heels of Griselda's Shady Records debut album "W.W.C.D," Westside confirmed via his Instagram account that his swan song will be his forthcoming collaborative project with Madlib, which is coming in 2020.
"Well Since MADLIB told y’all.... YES the WSG x MADLIB Project is dropping 2020, in 19’ I gave y’all Awesome GOD, HWH7, and WWCD soon as the ball drop I’m right back on the N.... necks," he wrote. "and Please go support HWH7 and WWCD were making HISTORY btw 2020 my last year rapping I’m going down as one of the Illest Ever."
We're sure the Buffalo native will still be a fixture in the music scene as he guides Griselda's future. Fans just won't be hearing his slick rhymes and unique voice on beats anymore.
