A couple of interesting stories have come out in the last several days regarding Atlanta rapper Waka Flocka.
The 1017 Brick Squad member stopped by 93.7 today to chop it up with Jenny Boom Boom and address all drama.
Right off the top, Jenny wanted to know if the story about the cops raiding his crib looking for guns and gang paraphernalia on Thursday December 16 was true.
“I’m a rapper right? Why would I rap and go try to street gangbang? That’s hustling backwards… I’m a rapper not a gangbanger,” Waka said. “How can you gangbang and and be a rapper?”
Waka did admit that his house was raided by some “groupie cops” and that he wasn‘t home, but claimed to not know whether or not Gucci Mane had been arrested as had been reported.
A lot of people were surprised when Waka was placed at # 7 on MTV’s Hottest MC’s 2010 list. The rapper admitted that even caught him off guard.
“I thought that was a lyrical list. I thought all the lyrical rappers were supposed to be on that list,” Waka said. “When I got on that list I said, ‘Oh yeah, I’m gonna sit back for two hours, watch some blog sites and see how many haters I get.”
Waka’s mom Debra Antney raised eyebrows this week when she reviewed Nicki Minaj’s album ‘Pink Friday’ and labeled it as “terrible.”
Antney used to manage Nicki for a while, during that time she and Waka became friends. He hadn’t seen or heard about his mom’s comments, but he thought Nicki’s album was good.
“It’s straight to me, that’s Nicki, that’s her swag. If you aint into her swag you aint gonna dig her her music,” Waka said. He added that he would like to get the Young Money femcee on his “No Hands” remix.
