Tracy Morgan will have a long road to recovery following surgery on a broken leg Sunday, June 8.
"He has been more responsive, which is an incredibly encouraging sign," publicist Lewis Kay said Sunday.
Morgan was injured Saturday when a big rig Wal-Mart truck hit the Mercedes limo bus he was a passenger in causing it to overturn on the New Jersey Turnpike.
In addition to the broken leg, the 45-year old actor/comedian suffered a broken nose, several broken ribs and a broken femur. He remains in critical condition. Doctors expect to keep him in the hospital for several more weeks.
James "Jimmy Mack" McNair
Morgan's assistant, Jeffrey Millea, and comedian Ardie Fuqua Jr. were also injured and remain hospitalized in critical condition. Comedian James "Jimmy Mack" McNair was killed.
Kevin Roper
Wal-Mart truck driver Kevin Roper has been charged with death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. Reports indicate that he failed to slow for traffic ahead and hit Morgan's limo bus, causing a chain reaction involving two cars, an SUV and another tractor trailer.
The 35-year old driver turned himself in to police on Saturday. He was released on $50,000 bond. He's expected to make a court appearance Monday, June 9. Wal-Mart has placed him on administrative leave.
