This seems like a role tailor made for Snoop Dogg.
The Doggfather will star in The Legend of Filmore Slim. A biopic about the life of the blues singer, guitarist and pimp.
Slim, real name Clarence Sims, is often referred to as "The West Coast Godfather of the Game" and "The Pope of Pimping." It's said that at one time he had as many as 9000 prostitutes working for him.
He got his name from working Filmore street in San Francisco.
A rep for Slim told EW that Snoop was hand picked for the role.
“Snoop is like another son to [Slim]. [He] has always made it clear that Snoop was who he felt should play that role," the rep said. "He has carried that in his heart since we began our search to put the team for the film together.”
Ames Universal and SRI Entertainment are backing the film.
“This film will span decades,” co-producer Alan Ames told Deadline. “From Slim’s emergence as a musician, to his fascination with the fast life, through his years of incarceration and his redemption.”
The movie is scheduled for a late 2012 release.
