Due to an Argentine folklore, President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchhner, has adopted a young Jewish boy as her Godson to prevent him from turning into a werewolf, according to The Independent.
The practice dates back 100 years. The belief is that the seventh son born to a family turns into the “el lobison” on the first Friday after boy’s 13th birthday. The werewolf-like creature takes form at midnight during every full moon.
It supposedly feeds on unbaptized babies, the recently dead and excrement.
Yair Tawil and his family met Kirchner at her office last week for the ceremony. In addition to gaining the President as a Godparent, Tawil will receive a gold medal and full educational scholarship.
Tawil is the first Jewish boy to be adopted. The tradition only applied to Catholics up until 1999. It's unclear how being adopted by the Argentine leader prevents the child from turning into a demon.
