UFC fighters Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans went to war last night in Philadelphia, to determine who would get a light heavyweight title shot against the winner of the upcoming Jon "Bones" Jones vs Quentin "Rampage" Jackson fight.
Evans was in the best shape of his career and it showed, as he dominated the bout. He ended it with a vicious knee to the body, followed by several hard punches to the face, prompting the referee to call a hault to the bout with seconds remaining in the round.
It was a good call by the referee.
Ortiz was gracious in defeat, admitting Rashad was the better man on the night.
“I have to take my hat off to Rashad,” Ortiz said. “I came in here and gave it my all. I have nothing to take back. He beat me at my best and he beat my ass.”
Now Rashad has to wait to find out who his next opponent will be, but he doesn't seem worried regardless.
“I want to get on Jon Jones and get my belt back. Whether he has it or Rampage, I’m getting my belt," Rashad said.
