“My drive is just crazy right now,” says L.A. rapper Jay Rock, who’s been earning rave reviews for his latest release, ‘Redemption.’ Dropping in the midst of Kanye season and The Carters’ surprise release, Rock's album is arguably the strongest of his career. 'Redemption' follows on the heels of “King’s Dead,” Rock's hit collab with Kendrick Lamar on the ‘Panther’ soundtrack. “Dot was like, ‘Yeah I’m workin’ on this Black Panther’ project,” Jay Rock remembers of the session. “I was like OK—I’m thinking he was talkin’ 'bout some revolutionary type sh*t.” This recent hot streak has raised the profile of the Watts native who was actually the first artist signed to Top Dawg Entertainment.
