To say that Nelly is a crossover success would be a huge understatement.
The St. Louis rapper has three multi-platinum albums and two Grammy awards to prove it. But he says at his core he's still an urban artist who just happened to crossover.
"At the end of the day, I am urban, so you can't run from that fact," Nelly told MTV News. "You do what works for you. I think you'd be an idiot to not do what works for you. They don't want me to be smart about it? They wanna see another dumb brother not succeeding because he tried to do something that wasn't smart? That's what they say about us: We don't think first. Well, this brother thinking first. I plan on being here."
Nelly is currently working on his seventh solo album. He told the Today Show back in May that he has a big surprise collaboration on the new disc.
“Hopefully, I have something real big planned. I don’t want to give it away,” he said.
