Nelly proclaimed his innocence when he was arrested in October 2017 for allegedly raping 22-year old college student Monique Greene on his tour bus in Seattle.
Now that Greene has dropped the charges and hit Nelly with a sexual assault and defamation lawsuit, he is mounting a defense.
TMZ reports that the 43-year old rapper, born Cornell Iral Haynes Jr., has filed a countersuit.
In legal documents filed in Seattle Friday, January 26, Nelly claims he and Greene met in the VIP area of a club where he was headlining. After Greene began flirting Nelly invited her back to his tour bus, where they had consensual sex.
The "Hot in Herre" hit maker says problems began when one of his backup dancers entered the room to use his bathroom. At that point Greene became "aggressive and disruptive" and was asked to leave.
Greene later called police to report that she had been raped.
As we previously reported, the lawsuit filed by Greene includes 2 other women who accuse Nelly of sexual assault.
Nelly says the accusations have damaged his reputation in the music business and cost him money.
The 3-time Grammy Award winner wants Greene's defamation suit against him thrown out because he has every right to publicly defend himself against what he says is a false rape claim.
In addition. he's filed a motion asking a judge to strike the claim he assaulted the 2 other alleged victims.
