Mary J. Blige was hit with a lawsuit Thursday alleging she had defaulted on a $500,000 loan from Bank of America.

Reuters reports that the bank filed the lawsuit in New York State Supreme Court. They say the singer took out the loan in 2005 and stopped making re-payments in June 2012. B of A is looking to recoup $511,324 in principal and interest on the loan they claim the singer owes.

This is the second lawsuit in the last several months filed against the 9-time Grammy Award winner. In November 2012 Signature Bank took legal action over an alleged default on a $2.2 million bank loan by the singer and her husband.

HipHollywood caught up with Mary on the red carpet of Vibe's inaugural Impact Awards show held on Friday at the Sunset Tower Hotel in Los Angeles, to talk to her about the recent stories that have hit the press about her.

"There's really nothing you can say about the negative things that are in the media about you," Mary said. "All you can do is keep pushing, keep your head up and just let people be people. [Let] haters hate and just do what you do. Use all of that to fuel you to do something better."

The news isn't all bad for Mary, who has sold 50 million albums worldwide during her career. On Friday Vibe honored her with their first Impact Award.

"It feels great to be honored with the Impact Award tonight. Because I believe I've made an impact on so many people's lives. It feels good," she said.
