Lil Mama's career was resurrected by her performance as Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes in the VH1 movie CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story. While she's been enjoying kudos from critics, Lopes' family and fans, Lil Mama was also dealt a loss in court recently.
The rapper/actress, real name Niatia Kirkland, was sued by her former lawyer for non payment of services. The attorney who specializes in intellectual property had been working to protect Kirkland's right to use the name Lil Mama. He severed ties with her in 2011 after being stiffed since 2008.
The judge in the case ordered Lil Mama to cough up $18,000 for attorneys fees, interest and other costs, according to TMZ.
Before her role in the TLC film, Kirkland, had been best remembered for crashing Jay Z and Alicia Keys performance at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.
