Lil Mama just landed a huge movie role. The 23-year old, real name Niatia Jessica Kirkland, has been selected to play Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes in an upcoming TLC biopic on VH1
MC Lyte revealed the news in an interview with HipHollywood.
"I don't know if I'm supposed to say, but I will," Lyte said. "She just got the role of Left Eye in TLC's new movie."
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, serving as consultants and executive producers according to Rap-Up. The film is currently in pre-production.
Lyte has taken on the role of Lil Mama's mentor.
“I’m gonna put a little bit of my concentration and focus on helping to uplift a sister who is talented, smart, witty, and just had her chances cut too short, and that’s Lil Mama ’cause she is a talented young lady,” explained Lyte.
The VH1 movie will explore TLC's rise to fame, T-Boz’s battle with sickle-cell anemia, Lisa burning down the house of her boyfriend, then-Atlanta Falcon Andre Rison, in 1994, and her 2002 car crash death in La Ceiba, Honduras and the age of 30.
