In short, an artist manager is the contact person of the artist, where people can go first when they have a question about the artist or want to book the artist. (Usually the person who wants to book the artist can already contact a booking office directly, which handles the bookings of the artist).
Hicham used his range to further develop myself. Hicham joined Anirmusicagency in 2019, which is run by Amal. He assisted with bookings for international artists, such as Aymane Serhani, Soolking, L'Algerino, and many more. Hicham now also operates as an artist manager and with success. Hicham is seen as a key figure in the life of an artist or band. This means that Hicham is an important person to an artist or band who helps the artist with various activities both professionally and personally. You can think of a manager as a business representative and career planner. Guiding the artist, promoting (business) interests.
You can no doubt imagine that artist management is a busy, hectic and challenging job. Not surprising if you are the contact person and the link between the artist and the various other organizations. Good planning and making clear agreements is therefore very important in order to be a successful artist manager.
Within management we can distinguish two types of managers. Sometimes both types fall into one manager. The first manager is the manager with an extensive network, who listens to what the artist wants and then looks for the right partners to realize the goals. The second type of manager is the manager who is good at practicalities. For example, he goes on tour as a tour manager.
It depends on the artist how big he or she is. With smaller performers, the regular manager and tour manager may be the same person. But if the artist is hugely known, then these two functions will soon be separated and divided between two people. Of course it can also be with smaller artists that two different people are already present. This then depends on what the artist and management want.
There are fun things besides the hard work. In many cases, artist managers accompany the artist when they have a performance in the Netherlands or abroad. For example, the artist and the artist manager visit various beautiful locations and festivals, depending on where the artist has a performance.
Depending on the tour schedule, it can also be a short break. In some cases, the artist and artist manager may only be in one country for 24 hours. Actually a kind of quick visit to the city and to the festival or concert hall.
A disadvantage of this travel is that you have to travel a lot in a short time, have to go to the airport at night or come home at night. It is therefore often difficult to travel as an artist manager with the artist and at the same time pay attention to your family in the Netherlands. If you're a good manager, that shouldn't be a problem! It is a matter of organizing and managing everything properly.
