A winning bid of $120,000 has been made to purchase the gun used to kill Trayvon Martin.
It took George Zimmerman three tries to sell the Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm. He initially listed it for auction last week on GunBroker.com. The website removed it before bidding began.
The weapon was then posted on United Gun Group, but the auction was flooded with trolls with names like "Racist McShootFace" and "Ted Cruz," who submitted fake bids topping $65 million.
TMZ reports that United Gun Group then added a private email verification to sift out the fake bids and re-listed it. A total of 7 verified bidders participated in the auction.
The sale will be finalized once the process of "vetting several offers and verifying funds" is completed said Zimmerman.
The 32-year old former neighborhood watchman shot and killed Martin after confronting the 17-year old, who was walking from the store to his father's home in Sanford, Florida on February 26, 2012,
He told police that the unarmed teenager looked "suspicious."
A jury acquitted Zimmerman of second-degree murder and of manslaughter in July 2013.
