Video And Poll After The Jump
All of the talking is pretty much over. Saturday night the battle between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and WBC Welterweight Champion Victor Ortiz takes place in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand.
Both fighters have a lot to lose going into the bout. The 34-year old Mayweather's 41-0 record is on the line. In addition, a huge fight with Manny Pacquiao looms on the horizon.
Ortiz is just now hitting his stride as a professional. Since a July 2009 TKO loss to Marcos Maidana, the 24-year old Ortiz has gone 5-0-1. That includes a career defining win over Andre Berto to claim the WBC belt in April of this year.
The fighters had one last chance to do a bit of promoting and trash talking at the fight's final press conference a couple of days ago.
Mayweather said he felt so confident that he was going to win that he wagered bets with Ortiz's promoter Oscar De La Hoya and Ortiz for $2.5 million apiece that he would win the fight.
No word on whether or not they actually accepted.
