After Floyd Mayweather Jr. defeated Canelo Alvarez on Saturday, September 14, a photo mocking his promoter Oscar De La Hoya was posted on his Instagram account Monday, September 16.

The photo's caption, "Meanwhile in rehab: I gave Canelo the wrong blueprint, I was high" was a jab at Oscar's current stay in a rehab facility.

Floyd has issued a statement denying that he approved the post and apologized to Oscar.

"It's unfortunate that a stupid picture was posted to my Instagram account earlier today that was not posted by me or authorized by me to post. I completely support Oscar De La Hoya and his family during this difficult time in his life. I stand by him unconditionally and would never personally disrespect him or anyone else who struggles with addiction.I apologize to Oscar and his family for this posting. I wish him well and am rooting for him to win his fight too. I also apologize to all of my followers for this ridiculous post. I have no ill-will towards anyone."

It's a well known fact that Floyd doesn't normally write what is on his Twitter account or post photos on Instagram himself. That is usually done by someone in his camp.

Do you think his apology was sincere?
