The family of Sandra Bland will file a federal lawsuit in Houston on Tuesday, August 4, against Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Brian Encinia and others, according to the Associated Press.
Bland, 28, was arrested after a routine traffic stop by Encinia turned hostile. She was found dead in her Waller County jail cell three days later, July 13, after allegedly hanging herself with a plastic garbage bag.
Bland had recently accepted a new job at Prairie View A&M University. Her family insists she was looking forward to the new position and would have never killed herself.

The trooper was put on desk duty for violating procedures during the stop.
