Video After The Jump A lot of people think comedian Charlie Murphy got his start in show business on Dave Chappelle's Show, but Eddie Murphy's big brother was grinding long before that. In this interview with Nardwuar, he talks about his early career. Nardwuar: What was being in Sammy Davis Jr's last movie 'The Kid Who Loved Christmas' like? Charlie Murphy: For me it was awesome..Actually is was awesome to a flaw, because I was so happy it was Sammy Davis Jr, I was like 'It's Sammy!' and he was sick. So I think I was a nuisance. Like 'who is this bubbly guy that keeps coming around?' and he was feeling horrible. There was a hamster in that movie called Molly. Eddie Murphy put a hamster in one of his other movies. Did you have a hamster growing up called Molly? CM: No because we realized that hamsters are actually mice, with afros. I mentioned you movie career, but you also have and had a rap career. What can you tell me about the K9 Posse? CM: I produced it, I wrote on it, I just didn't rap. I wish I would have rapped, but we had a lot of fun doing K9. Charlie Murphy, sweat on my? CM: Balls! CB4, there goes another one. Represents a very colorful and illustrious career. When you auditioned for CB4, is it true that you showed up with a gun, with bullets? CM: Yes and I'm not saying anyone else should do that, but this is why it happened. I went in and I did the normal audition. And Chris Rock called me up that night and said 'that was excellent, tomorrow when you come back for that callbakc I only have one suggestion, I want to be even meaner that you was today.' And I thought 'woo that was pretty mean, how you gonna top that? I guess I'm gonna have to bullets in the gun for real this time.' So the next day I went in with a 9MM. I popped the clip in, in front of them to let them see it was it was bullets, jacked it and pointed it at Chris Rock which was very crazy. Charlie goes on to talk about working with Redd Foxx, Dave Chappelle knocking out a bull, being on the air with 50 Cent, Eminem and DJ Whoo Kid.
