An unidentified DJ for the Velvet Room in Atlanta was shot by police Monday morning (March 3) at a record release party for Rick Ross, which was being hosted by Diddy.
The shooting occurred around 4 AM after the DJ got into an altercation behind the club with another group of people. Shots were exchanged between the two parties. Two off duty cops in full uniform responded to the scene. They reportedly identified themselves as officers, when the DJ started shooting at them.
“For whatever unknown reasons, it appears that this DJ who was involved in the shooting with some others turned and shot at the officers, and that’s when they returned fire,” DeKalb Public Safety Director, Cedric Alexander, told the Atlanta Constitution Journal. "They were doing what they were trained to do. They took all the necessary actions to protect themselves and each other.”
After being shot twice in the leg the DJ went back inside the club where he was arrested. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital. Neither of the cops were injured.
Both officers were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation into what happened.
