Conor McGregor is one of the best fighters in the UFC. The Featherweight Champion is also a master at trash talking and stirring up controversy.
In December he was asked who would win a fight between himself and Jesus.
"Me versus Jesus in the Octagon. I'll tell you what, there's not a man alive that can beat me," McGregor said at the time. "But Jesus ain't alive is he? I don't fucking know. Maybe he can come back from the dead. I'd still whoop his ass."
Wanderlei Silva says he wants to slap Conor McGregor for disrespecting Jesus
Those comments riled up "The Axe Murderer" Wanderlei Silva, who said he would 'slap this motherfucker in the face."
Now McGregor has caught the attention of a Baptist preacher in Texas, Donnie Romero, for comments he made at the press conference for UFC 197.
Conor McGregor compares himself to God at the 21:07 mark
"Me and Jesus are cool," McGregor said. "I'm cool with all the Gods. Gods recognize Gods."
"I'm gonna pray that God strikes this guy dead," Romero told his congregation in response to McGregor's comments. "Do you know why? His name is Conor McGregor. And he's the UFC Featherweight champ or something like that. He said that 'if Jesus was in the ring with me I'd knock him out.' And somebody threw that in his face and said, "do you remember that time when you said you would beat up Jesus in the ring?' And he said, 'me and Jesus are good because Gods recognize Gods.' The guy's a UFC fighter ... the guy's nothing. He's let money go to his head, he's got pride and look, let me tell you this, the bigger they are the harder they fall, my friend. "That guy, I'm gonna pray that God strikes him down with a lighting bolt. So everybody in the world that believes the Bible, even a little bit will know that it was God, it was Jesus that struck him down."
