An Atlanta man fatally shot his stepson following an argument about leaving the family’s home during the city’s coronavirus stay-at-home order, police said.

Bernie Hargrove, 42, was arrested late Wednesday on a felony murder charge in the shooting death of 16-year-old De’onte Roberts, who was killed after defying his parents’ wishes to not go outside during the pandemic, Atlanta police said.

Roberts’ mother told detectives she and Hargrove had a dispute with the teen earlier Wednesday when he refused their “orders to remain in the home,” Officer Steve Avery said in a statement to The Post.

“Later, the victim returned to the home and kicked in the door to the house where a physical fight began between the suspect and the victim,” Avery said. “During that altercation, the victim was shot.”

Roberts, who was struck in the chest, later died at a hospital, police said.

Hargrove, who was questioned by investigators overnight, was booked into Fulton County Jail early Thursday. His next scheduled court appearance or bond information was not listed in online jail records.

Hargrove shot his stepson several times after Roberts busted down the family’s door and punched him in the face, police told WSB-TV.

Roberts’ younger sibling was also inside the residence at the time, the station reports.
