Amanda Bynes has been released from an L.A. area psychiatric hospital after being held there involuntary for two weeks.
TMZ reports that the actress went before a hearing officer and asked to be released. It was determined that she well well enough to be let go.
Doctors at the facility were not happy. They had just gotten a judge to extend Amanda's stay for another month. In their opinion she is still in bad shape mentally.
It's the second time the former Nickelodeon star has been committed within the last year and a half. She had been acting strangely in New York City within the last month. Got caught shoplifting twice, bought strangers expensive items, accused, then retracted allegations her father had sexually molested her. She also accused him of having a microchip implanted in her brain and was generally out of it.
Her parents created a ruse to get her to fly out to L.A., where they had her hospitalized.
Bynes left the facility Thursday, October 30, and hit Sunset Boulevard in search of a place to stay. She was reportedly turned away by several hotels.
She stopped at a restaurant where she scarfed down a feast of fried chicken, salmon, Caesar salad with guacamole, and a house salad with Italian and ranch. Her waitress told TMZ she was mumbling to herself while there.
