Lawsuits can be costly, especially if you don't respond to them. That mistake by Akon is going to cost him $164,786.99. That's what he's been ordered to pay a leasing company.

TMZ reports that the "Smack That" hit maker was sued by GTFM, a company that leased him space in the Empire State Building for his fashion line, Aliaune Milano.

The agreement called for Akon to pay $25,000 a month. GTFM says the singer did so from July 2012 to July 2015. He moved out of the space in January 2016, allegedly owing nearly 7 months of rent.

GTFM won a default judgement after Akon failed to answer the lawsuit.
