Video After The Jump

When superstar running back Adrian Peterson tore his anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and suffered meniscus damage to his left knee after a hit by Washington Redskins safety DeJon Gomes last December (week 16) many wondered if he could recover in time for the 2012-13 season and whether he would ever be the same.

Recovery time from such devastating injuries can take up to 9 months or longer following surgery and intense rehabilitation.

After sitting out the pre-season Peterson has bounced back this season in a big way. The Minnesota Vikings player leads the National Football League in rushing yards with 1,128 yards. He's averaging 5.8 yards per carry and has scored 7 rushing touchdowns.

AP sits down with ESPN's Chris Carter to talk about his determination and return from injury.
