FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. (WSAW) - A Taycheedah Correctional Facility inmate charged with killing her cellmate-- a convicted murderer from central Wisconsin, has been formally charged.
Taylor Sanchez, 27, is charged with first-degree intentional homicide for the death of Cindy Schulz-Juedes. Bond was set Monday at $1 million.
Schulz-Juedes was serving a life sentence for her husband’s murder. Ken Juedes, 58, was found dead of gunshot wounds on Aug. 29, 2006. Criminal charges were not filed against Schulz-Juedes until 2019.
Schulz-Juedes was found unresponsive in her cell at the women’s prison on July 19. The criminal complaint states before she was found, other inmates near the cell reported hearing noises that sounded like a scuffle and banging.
When questioned by officers following the incident, Sanchez said “I hit her with my hands and my feet.” and “I was hearing voices telling me to kill her”.
According to the criminal complaint, a conversation was recorded between Sanchez and her mother. In that conversation, Sanchez reportedly said “I stopped taking my meds and I started hearing voices again.” She continued, saying “I thought she was using my toothbrush to scrub the toilet”.
According to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections website, Sanchez was serving a two-year sentence for a battery conviction from Kenosha County.
Schulz-Juedes autopsy results show she had numerous skull fractures, with a cause of death as head trauma.
Wisconsin Circuit Court records show Schulz-Juedes had begun the process to appeal her conviction. Prosecutors say Schulz-Juedes was motivated by money, including numerous insurance policies on Juedes that totaled more than $900,000.
Online court records do not show Sanchez’s next court date.
