We're very sorry to report that longtime ESPN anchor Stuart Scott has passed away after battling cancer. According to ESPN, the 49-year old passed away Sunday morning, January 4.
"He didn't just push the envelope," says sports radio host and former ESPN anchor Dan Patrick. "He bulldozed it."
Stuart was a 22-year member of the ESPN staff.
"Think about that phrase, 'As cool as the other side of the pillow.' It's a hot, stifling night. You're having trouble sleeping. But then you think to turn the pillow over, and, Wow, it's cool, and it feels so good," said anchor Jay Harris. "Well, that's who Stuart is. He is 'the other side of pillow,' the man who made sportscasting cool. God bless whoever it was who thought to rearrange the bedding at ESPN."
In July, Stuart was given the 2014 Jimmy V Perseverance Award at The Espys. Watch his moving speech below. May he rest in peace.
