A judge has sentenced "That '70s Show'' actor Danny Masterson to 30 years to life in prison for raping 2 women.
"This has been a long & arduous road for the victims of Mr. Masterson," read a statement from District Attorney George Gascón. "They not only survived his abuse, they also survived a system that is often not kind to victims."
Masterson, a member of the Church of Scientology, was a star on the hit sitcom "That '70s Show," which ran from 1998 to 2006. He was first accused of sexual misconduct in 2017, which kicked off an investigation by the LAPD. In June 2020, he was charged with raping 3 women, including his former girlfriend, in his Hollywood Hills home between 2001 and 2003. The 3 women had all met Masterson through the Church of Scientology.
"You are pathetic, disturbed and completely violent," one of the women said to Masterson in court this morning.
A deadlocked jury led to a mistrial last year. Prosecutors retried Masterson in May, informing jurors that he drugged the women's drinks, & that the church tried to silence the women. The jury found him guilty of 2 counts of rape, but were unable to reach a verdict in the allegation that he raped his longtime girlfriend.
Vlad and Michael Blackson discussed the impact of Donald Trump's presidency on comedy and current politics. Michael jokingly reminded the audience of his pre-election claim that he would "deport himself" if Trump was elected but added that Trump's presidency was great for comedy. Despite his humorous comment, Michael criticized Trump for his controversies while in office and his alleged disregard for the responsibilities of the presidency. Ongoing discussions also brought up potential legal issues Trump might face, including potential imprisonment. Vlad clarified that presidents and ex-presidents could go to jail and that Trump could potentially face charges. Michael ended the conversation on a light note, wondering about the unusual trend of aging presidents, comparing Joe Biden to the movie "Weekend at Bernie's."

LAKE WALES, Fla. (10 Tampa Bay) — An arrest affidavit from the Polk County Sheriff's Office revealed more information about an ongoing homicide investigation involving a father accused of killing his 16-year-old son in Lake Wales.
Stephen Rodda, 16, was staying with his grandfather, Thomas Rodda, at a mobile home 60 to help out while his grandmother was in rehab.
The teen's father, 37-year-old Stephen Rodda, had returned to town about a month prior & was outside the home on Monday when the grandfather returned home from an outing. He reportedly told him, "I wouldn't go in there if I was you. I killed someone. You may need to call the police."
Thomas Rodda then entered the home to find his grandson dead in the kitchen-dining room area.
The affidavit explained law enforcement encountered a gruesome scene, with the teen being found with multiple deep cuts to his body & missing teeth. A broken handheld angle grinder was reportedly found next to the 16-year-old's body.
Stephen Rodda reportedly fled the scene & was arrested about a mile away.
During a recorded interview, the 37-year-old told authorities his son, who had just been killed, died years ago when he was little.
"During the course of the interview, the suspect showed no remorse or concern for the killing of his son...," the affidavit reads in part.
He was arrested for first-degree murder & was taken to the sheriff's processing center. His first appearance in court is set for Tuesday afternoon.
The 37-year-old has used methamphetamine since he was in high school & is known to have "psychotic" episodes, according to Judd. He also reportedly has extensive criminal histories in several states, including an arrest warrant in South Carolina.

An Alexis retractor, or AWR, which can measure 17 centimeters (6 inches) in diameter, was left inside the mother’s body following the birth of her baby at Auckland City Hospital in 2020.
The AWR is a retractable cylindrical device with a translucent film used to draw back the edges of a wound during surgery.
The woman suffered months of chronic pain & went for several checkups to find out what was wrong, including X-rays that showed no sign of the device. The pain got so severe that she visited the hospital’s emergency department & the device was discovered on an abdominal CT scan & removed immediately in 2021.
New Zealand’s Health & Disability Commissioner, Morag McDowell, found Te Whatu Ora Auckland – the Auckland District Health Board – in breach of the code of patient rights, in a report released on Monday.
During the operation in 2020, a count of all surgical instruments used in the procedure did not include the AWR, the commission report found. This was possibly “due to the fact that the Alexis Retractor doesn’t go into the wound completely as half of the retractor needs to remain outside the patient & so it would not be at risk of being retained,” a nurse told the commission.
The case has also been referred to the director of proceedings, an official who will determine whether any further action should be taken.
“We would like to assure the public that incidents like these are extremely rare, and we remain confident in the quality of our surgical and maternity care,” read a statement from Te Toka Tumai Auckland

B.G., a founding member of the popular ’90s rap group Hot Boys, was released from prison Tuesday (Sept. 6) after serving 12 years for gun possession & witness tampering.
Cash Money founder Birdman was on Instagram Live when he greeted his New Orleans comrade with a big hug, welcoming him home. He also came bearing gifts & B.G. was overwhelmed with emotions upon his release.
In 2009, B.G. was arrested during a traffic stop where cops discovered 3 guns inside his vehicle, with 2 of them stolen. 2 years later, he entered a guilty plea deal for 2 counts of firearm possession & 1 count of conspiracy to obstruct justice. He received a 14-year federal prison sentence.
This past weekend, B.G. celebrated his 43rd birthday on Instagram, signaling his upcoming status as a free man. “After 12 winters and 13 summers, I see the end zone. It’s my last Birthday being buried alive. This year I’m celebrating the whole Virgo cycle, matter of fact, from this year forward I’m living & celebrating like everyday is #MyBIRTHDAY,” he wrote.
“The main focus, is to stay focused,” the post continued. “I’m not letting nobody rob me of my productivity, prosperity, positivity & peace of mind. My dreams then got bigger & my vision is clearer. 13 years was more then enough time for me to change the reckless path I was on.”
B.G. helped construct The Hot Boys in the late ’90s, which featured Lil Wayne, Juvenile & Turk. The crew enjoyed success with their 1999 platinum album Guerrilla Warfare, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 & spawned the breakout hits “I Need a Hot Girl” & “We on Fire.” B.G.’s biggest win came from his fourth album, 1999’s Chopper City in the Ghetto, which birthed the phrase “Bling Bling.”
