ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Rapper Kodak Black was arrested this week on a drug trafficking charge in central Florida in his latest run-in with law enforcement.
The rapper, whose real name is Bill Kapri, was booked into the Orange County Jail on Wednesday on a felony charge of trafficking MDMA, the synthetic drug also known as ecstasy or molly.
Kapri, 28, entered a written plea of not guilty & asked for a jury trial on Thursday. He also waived appearing in person at a future arraignment hearing in state court. His bond was set at $75,000.
Kapri’s arrest followed a police encounter in Orlando in November when officers were called to a neighborhood in Orlando by residents who reported hearing gunshots. Officers encountered a bunch of people hanging out around parked luxury sports utility vehicles, including Kapri.
An officer noticed a white substance on a $100 bill inside a Lamborghini SUV, which smelled of cannabis, giving the officer probable cause to search the vehicle. During the search, the officer found a pink bag containing a plastic bag of MDMA, $37,000 & numerous documents with Kapri’s name on them.
The pink bag matched a bag seen in a photo of Kapri that the rapper had posted to his Instagram account. The bag also contained a distinct lighter that also was in the photo, investigators said.
Everyone at the scene denied owning the bag, including Kapri, who nevertheless said the money belonged to his business & asked for it back.
In 2023, police in Plantation, Florida arrested Kapri after finding him asleep at the wheel with white powder around his mouth. Although authorities said the powder initially tested positive for cocaine, a lab test later revealed it was oxycodone, for which Kapri obtained a prescription.
The arrest was a violation of his probation from an unrelated case, which led to him being locked up in Miami for 2 months.
Kapri was also arrested in 2022 on charges of trafficking in oxycodone & possession of a controlled substance without a prescription. He was freed on bond with regular drug testing as a condition of his release. Kapri was ordered into drug rehab for 30 days in 2023 after missing a drug test & then testing positive for fentanyl several days later.
In January 2021, then-President Donald Trump commuted a 3-year federal prison sentence the rapper had for falsifying documents used to buy weapons. Kapri had served about half his sentence.
As Kodak Black, Kapri has sold more than 30 million singles, with massive hits such as “Super Gremlin.”

AP - Prosecutors said Wednesday that singer D4vd killed 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez by stabbing her multiple times then dismembered her body using chain saws in his garage.
The L.A. County District Attorney’s Office shared what they said the evidence in the case would show in a court filing that provided the first detailed allegations of the killing & efforts to cut apart Rivas Hernandez’s body & get rid of evidence.
D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, met Rivas Hernandez when she was 11, began sexually abusing her when she was 13 & he was 18, & killed her when she threatened to reveal their inappropriate relationship.
Burke was arrested on April 16 & charged with first-degree murder, lewd & lascivious acts with a person under 14 & mutilating a dead body. He is eligible for the death penalty, but prosecutors said they have not decided whether to seek it.
Burke has pleaded not guilty.
Celese's body was found decomposing in a Tesla towed from the Hollywood Hills in September of last year.
Prosecutors said they had obtained text messages that showed their sexual relationship, including child sexual abuse images of her on his phone.
The filing said he sent a rideshare car to pick her up & bring her to his Hollywood home on April 23, 2025
Burke bought 2 chain saws online used them to cut apart her body in an inflatable pool in his garage, where the girl’s DNA was later found.
He drove to Lake Cachuma in Santa Barbara County to get rid of evidence 3 times. Her passport was found there in January.
Prosecutors allege he kept her body in his Tesla & lied to friends & business associates who asked about the smell.
The body of Rivas Hernandez had so degraded that examiners couldn’t even determine her eye color. She had braces at the time of her death & a tattoo that read “Shhh ....” on the inside of a finger as well as his name. 2 fingers were missing — as were parts of her arms & legs.
