A Florida teen accused of murdering his 13-year-old classmate made an appearance from jail at a virtual pretrial hearing on Wednesday, where he appeared disoriented & could be overheard muttering about demons taking his soul.
Aiden Fucci, 14, is facing a charge of first-degree murder in the killing of Tristyn Bailey, who was found brutally stabbed 114 times in a wooded area in the Durbin Crossing neighborhood of St. Johns County on May 9.
Fucci appeared in an orange jumpsuit from the Duval County Jail over Zoom, the St. Augustine Record reported. He could be seen rocking back & forth as he held a phone to his ear.
At one point, Fucci could be heard mumbling, "Please don’t let the demons take my soul. The demons are going to take my soul away."
Fucci was heard muttering, "Why am I here? I just want to talk to my mom & dad. What’s going on? What’s going on?"
Bailey, a cheerleader, was a student at Patriot Oaks Academy with Fucci. On the night of her murder, investigators say Bailey was seen just after midnight on surveillance video walking with Fucci.
Over an hour later, Fucci is seen on the same surveillance camera running in the opposite direction of the woods where he allegedly stabbed Bailey to death.
Fucci pleaded not guilty in June & is being tried as an adult.
Shocking new video shows a 24-year-old man pumping 2 rounds into the sky before he’s fatally shot by an off-duty cop in the Bronx — as his dad returns fire at the officers.
Surveillance footage captured the dramatic shooting around 4:15 a.m. Sunday.
Two officers had just gotten off duty at the 46th Precinct when they encountered Michael Rosado, who fired “several shots” at the officers, cops said.
The video shows Rosado get out of a parked van & fire rounds into the air before moving out of the frame.
Rosado can then be seen running away from the officers after appearing to drop the pistol behind the van’s rear driver’s side tire, throwing his hands up & collapsing to the sidewalk from an apparent gunshot wound to the stomach.
At the same time, Michael Rosado’s 44-year-old father, Rafael Rosado, is seen picking up the pistol & returning fire at the officers. The officers were not struck.
Michael Rosado crawls over to another parked van and four unknown people try to tend to his wounds, according to the video.
As cops arrive, the group picks up Michael Rosado while his father flees after appearing to pass off the firearm, video shows.
The gun was not recovered.
Michael Rosado was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died.
The more than 3-minute video does not capture Michael Rosado shooting at the off-duty cops.
The elder Rosado was charged with attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon & reckless endangerment.

Kanye West's manager says all is cool with Ye and Chris Brown, but there's another possible beef that could flare up this Friday ... and it all hangs on what Drake has to say on his new album.
We got Bu Thiam at LAX Wednesday who tells us Kanye recently called Chris to work things out and the two are cool again. Chris went public with his frustrations earlier this week after Ye left him off the final product of "Donda" ... calling Kanye "a whole hoe."
Bu says artist features get left off albums all the time, and it was nothing personal against Chris. However, Bu didn't indicate that Kanye's settled anything with Soulja Boy, who was also pissed about being dropped from the album ... even challenging Kanye to a fight.
As we reported, Kanye and Drake have recently been at each other's throats, with Drake calling Kanye "burnt out" and Kanye posting the address to Drake's home in Toronto. Drake's set to drop his highly-anticipated "Certified Lover Boy" album Friday.
Bu tells us things are cool between Ye and Drizzy -- but that could all change if Drake takes aim at Kanye in any songs on 'CLB' -- where Kanye would almost certainly have to respond.

Cardi B is getting applauded by the family of slain IG model Miss Mercedes Morr ... they're thankful Cardi is shining light on the tragedy and they invited her to the funeral.
The late model's mother, Jeanetta Grover, tells TMZ ... the family's grateful Cardi brought awareness to her daughter's tragic death, because Cardi took the attention away from her daughter's alleged murderer and put it back on Mercedes.
MMM was found dead last month at her home in Houston in what authorities are calling an apparent murder-suicide.
Cardi defended Mercedes online after some folks tried to blame Morr for her own death.
The family tells us Mercedes was a huge fan of Cardi's, with a fiery spirit and a kind heart, and they reached out privately to Cardi to extend an invite to the memorial service.
We're told there's no pressure on Cardi to attend the celebration of life Saturday in Houston ... the family says they understand she's a busy woman and they're just thankful Cardi brought awareness to the case.
Mercedes's mom says if Cardi does show up, her daughter would have been blown away and excited ... and everyone would just be grateful CB took the time to pay respects and send love.

A Las Vegas man was tortured for hours with a blowtorch, ax & different implements earlier than he was forced to strip & jump off a cliff — after which shot to death.
The physique of Roy Jaggers, 27, was found Aug. 1 in Nye County’s Cathedral Canyon, the place his neighbor, Heather Pate, her boyfriend, Kevin Dent & Pate’s former flame, Brad Mehn, allegedly tortured the man with knives, a baton & an ax.
Mehn, 37, allegedly then shot Jaggers after he was forced to strip off his clothes & jump off the cliff.
Sheriff’s officers said in a video statement early final month that Pate, 27, & Dent, 36, had lured him to her residence as a result of they believed he hurt Pate's child.
“When he arrived, they confronted Jaggers and subsequently beat him,” Nye County Sheriff’s Capt. David Boruchowitz said. “Upon arriving in Nye County, they met Mehn who led them to an area in the desert where they tortured Jaggers over multiple hours using numerous different weapons.”
An post-mortem discovered Jaggers died from a number of gunshot wounds.
Prosecutors are contemplating the death penalty for Mehn, who allegedly fired the shots that killed Jaggers.
Jaggers’ mom, Kassy Robinson, mentioned her son often babysat Pate’s youngsters or watched her canines. She declined to debate particulars of her son’s ugly slaying, however insisted he was a non-violent man.
“I know exactly what he was like, what he’s capable of, what he’s not capable of,” Robinson said.

DENVER (The Denver Channel) – A state grand jury returned a 32-count indictment against the three officers and two paramedics involved in the August 2019 death of Elijah McClain in Aurora, including manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide, among other charges, Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser announced Wednesday.
The three officers involved in the incident that preceded McClain’s death – Nathan Woodyard, Jason Rosenblatt and Randy Roedema – as well as Aurora Fire Rescue paramedics Jeremy Cooper and Peter Cichuniec, each face the counts of manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide.
Roedema and Rosenblatt each face another second-degree assault with intent to cause serious bodily injury charge and one count of a crime of violence.
The two paramedics also face multiple counts of second-degree assault for causing serious bodily injury and using a deadly weapon – the ketamine McClain was injected with after he was accosted by the officers.
Weiser said the indictment was returned by the grand jury last Thursday after it was convened last December. The indictment is being filed in Adams County District Court Wednesday and will be unsealed.
“City leaders respect the judicial process irrespective of the outcome and encourage Aurora residents and others across the country to do the same,” the city of Aurora said in a statement immediately following Weiser’s announcement. “The city has fully cooperated with the Attorney General’s Office and their investigators throughout their work. The results of the Colorado Attorney General’s Office’s separate investigation into the patterns and practices of APD are still pending. We will provide additional thoughts after today’s news conference concludes”
McClain’s death happened after a violent encounter with police on Aug. 24, 2019, as he walked home from a convenience store. The 23-year-old unarmed Black man was put in a carotid hold and paramedics injected him with a heavy dose of ketamine. He went into cardiac arrest and was declared brain dead days later before he died on Aug. 30, 2019.

TAYLOR, Mich. (AP) — Valerie Rupert raised her right arm, slightly shaking and unsure as she aimed at the paper target representing a burglar, a robber or even a rapist.
The 67-year-old Detroit grandmother squeezed the trigger, the echo of her shot blending into the chorus of other blasts by other women off the small gun range walls.
“I was a little nervous, but after I shot a couple of times, I enjoyed it,” said Rupert, among 1,000 or so mostly Black women taking part in free weekend gun safety and shooting lessons at two Detroit-area ranges.
Black women like Rupert increasingly are considering gun ownership for personal protection, according to industry experts and gun rights advocates.
Fear of crime, especially as shootings and murders have risen in cities big and small, is one driver of the trend. But a new motivator is the display of public anger in the last 15 months beginning with confrontations in the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis under the knee of police officer Derek Chauvin.
Worries about the anger over COVID-19-related restrictions and the outrage over the outcome of the presidential 2020 election, driven by lies, are contributors, too. In Michigan, that anger led to a plot to kidnap the governor, as well as instances where armed protesters descended on the state Capitol.
In April 2020, hundreds of conservative activists, including some who were openly carrying assault rifles, flocked to the Michigan Capitol in Lansing to denounce Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s stay-home order. Some demonstrators — mostly white and supporters of President Donald Trump — entered the building carrying guns, which is legal in the statehouse.
The sight of white men wearing body armor and holding guns at the Capitol still sticks with Rupert.
“They went up to the Capitol with all those guns. You need to be ready,” she said.
About 8.5 million people in the U.S. bought their first gun in 2020, the National Shooting Sports Foundation says. The trade association for the firearms industry adds that gun purchases by Black men and Black women increased by more than 58% over the first six months of last year.
Gun ownership tends to increase when people lose faith in government and the police, said Daniel Webster, professor of American Health in Violence Prevention at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Prevention and Policy.
“We’ve seen such an increase in white nationalist violence,” Webster said. “Some combination of the lack in faith in police protecting you and hate groups has motivated a lot of Black people to arm up.”
Black firearm owners still represent a relatively small portion of the gun-owning population, with 9.3% of gun owners being Black men and 5.4% Black women. Nearly 56% of U.S. gun owners are white men. Over 16% are white women, the Newtown, Connecticut-based National Shooting Sports Foundation says.
Still, 2020 saw “a tectonic shift in gun ownership in America” where there was “a huge increase of African Americans taking ownership of their Second Amendment rights,” said Mark Oliva, its director of public affairs.
Beth Alcazar, who is white, got involved with shooting about two decades ago and says it was rare to see a Black woman taking target practice.
“Honestly, not more than one image pops up of seeing a Black woman at the range,” said Alcazar, now a certified shooting instructor in the Birmingham, Alabama, area and U.S. Concealed Carry Association associate editor.
“With more involvement in the last five years, I see Black women on almost every occasion I go to the range,” she said, adding that it’s exciting for women learning how to shoot to see other women, especially women of color.
For many Black women, it’s about taking care of themselves, said Lavette Adams, a licensed firearm instructor who participated in the free Detroit-area training sponsored by gun advocacy group Legally Armed In Detroit.
“Crime against women is nothing new. Women protecting themselves, that’s new,” said Adams, who is Black.
That’s the premise behind the training that launched 10 years ago with 50 women attending. Last year, more than 1,900 participated, according to Rick Ector, Legally Armed in Detroit’s founder, who says he started it “to bring awareness and training to women who are the favorite preferred targets of bad guys, rapists and killers.”
Ameena Jumail, who joined dozens of other women outside Recoil Firearms in Taylor for the training, said she is working to overcome her fear of guns. Jumail, a 30-year-old kindergarten teacher from Detroit, said crime is one reason she came, but she admits that the desire to learn how to use a firearm includes concern over the rise in white nationalism and their open display of firearms in public places.
“During the 2016 election I was worried, also during the 2020 election,” Jumail said.
Hopkins’ Webster said whatever the reason, it is an open question whether the women who are buying the firearms now are safer.
“Having a loaded firearm with you is going to change your response in a number of situations,” he said. “It’s going to alter your behavior and perspective.”

Abortion rights are now squarely on the chopping block after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to stop the most restrictive anti-abortion law in the country from going into effect.
The Texas law prohibits abortions after the 6th week of pregnancy As you know, many/most women don't even know they're pregnant during the first 6 weeks. What's more, if an abortion is performed after the 6th week, any citizen in the country -- not just Texas, but the entire country -- can sue anyone who helps facilitate the abortion for $10,000 plus attorney's fees.
That means someone could sue not only the clinic, but the Uber driver who took the woman to the facility, a friend who made a call to the clinic on the woman's behalf, a counselor who advised the woman, the spouse of the woman, etc.
The Supreme Court was asked to put the law on ice Tuesday night, before it went into effect at midnight, but SCOTUS was silent ... and in this case, silence speaks volumes. If the justices didn't feel this law squarely violated Roe vs. Wade, it's a loud, screaming signal about their feelings toward Roe.
There are 5 justices -- and possibly 6 -- who have strongly indicated they would be inclined to overturning Roe, and they will have a shot at that soon, because a Mississippi anti-abortion law is a direct challenge to the 1973 precedent that gives women the right to an abortion.
For now ... Roe vs. Wade is effectively not the law of the land in Texas, where abortion clinics cannot exist at this point ... and its fate now hangs in the balance.

Amy Winehouse's dad believes the production company planning to make a biopic about his late daughter is playing a losing game ... because it's "100 percent not allowed."
Mitch Winehouse, Amy's father & administrator of her estate, tells TMZ ... there's no way the recently announced project with Halcyon Studios can go forward, because the estate already has its own plans for a biopic & owns all the rights.
Mitch says Halcyon -- which is producing the film after it optioned Daphne Barack’s 2010 book, "Saving Amy" -- has not reached out to him, nor has it reached out to her record label, Universal, to use any of her music.
Amy's dad claims Halcyon needs permission from the estate to make a biopic because it controls her image & definitely hasn't gotten it -- & that Barak needs to do the same & has also failed.
For her part, Barak says the project is not a biopic, but rather her story with her footage featuring herself with Amy & Bill Gunasti. She claims ... "I have all of the releases & legal agreements needed. Just like the NFTs being marketed on OG2D, this material is also all legally my property to sell."
Mitch certainly seems to disagree & tells us this isn't the first time something like this has happened -- where people & production companies try to use Amy's image in various projects ... but the estate has denied it.
Meanwhile, Mitch says there's an authorized biopic in the works with a large production company in the UK along with Universal ... with plans to begin filming next year.
As for taking legal action against Halcyon or Barak ... Mitch doesn't think it will get to that point. He says, "They can't be that stupid. Everyone knows proper licenses must be granted."
