Jay Z has been criticized for doing business with Barneys, a high end store that's being accused of racially profiling it's customers in New York City.

As we previously reported, a petition has been started calling for the Roc Nation CEO to cut ties with the store. Additionally Jay has been criticized on social media platforms and in the press.

The business mogul has decided that enough is enough and issued a statement on the situation via his Life+Times website

This collaboration lives in a place of giving and is about the Foundation. I am not making a dime from this collection; I do not stand to make millions, as falsely reported. I need to make that fact crystal clear. The Shawn Carter Foundation is the beneficiary and the foundation is receiving 25% of all sales from the collaboration, 10% of all sales generated in the store on November 20th and an additional donation from Barneys. This money is going to help individuals facing socio-economic hardships to help further their education at institutions of higher learning. My idea was born out of creativity and charity… not profit.

I move and speak based on facts and not emotion. I haven’t made any comments because I am waiting on facts and the outcome of a meeting between community leaders and Barneys. Why am I being demonized, denounced and thrown on the cover of a newspaper for not speaking immediately? The negligent, erroneous reports and attacks on my character, intentions, and the spirit of this collaboration have forced me into a statement I didn’t want to make without the full facts. Making a decision prematurely to pull out of this project, wouldn’t hurt Barneys or Shawn Carter, but all the people that stand a chance at higher education. I have been working with my team ever since the situation was brought to my attention to get to the bottom of these incidents and at the same time find a solution that doesn’t harm all those that stand to benefit from this collaboration.

I am against discrimination of any kind, but if I make snap judgements, no matter who it’s towards, aren’t I committing the same sin as someone who profiles? I am no stranger to being profiled and I truly empathize with anyone that has been put in that position. Hopefully this brings forth a dialogue to effect real change. – Shawn “JAY Z” Carter

Video After The Jump

Meek Mill sent out an interesting tweet earlier this week hinting he would show Kendrick Lamar who was king on his side of town when they both performed at Philadelphia's Powerhouse 2013.

Some people expected fireworks, but Meek talked to Mina SayWhat backstage at last night's event and said he wasn't referring to any drama popping off.

12350411476?profile=original

"A lot of people, they be taking it the wrong way. Me and Kendrick we cool guys really," Meek said. "When I see Kendrick we laugh and smile about it. I was just talking about I'mma show you who the king around this area. No negative stuff, straight hip hop."

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Authorities in Muslim-majority Malaysia have banned a planned concert by U.S. pop singer Ke$ha after deciding it would hurt cultural and religious sensitivities.

Concert organizer Livescape said it received a letter about the decision on the eve of the show that was to be held Saturday at a Kuala Lumpur stadium.

The Ministry of Communications and Multimedia said separately that it was rejecting the application for Ke$ha to perform for reasons of religion and culture.

12350409869?profile=original

The ministry's statement did not elaborate. Ke$ha, whose hits include "Tik Tok" and "Die Young," has songs that make explicit references to sex and liquor.

Last month, Malaysian officials also barred a performance by American metal band Lamb of God, accusing the Grammy-nominated group's work of being blasphemous.

Ke$ha and her team had previously agreed to modify their planned show in Malaysia, including making changes to her song lyrics and wardrobe, to comply with the government's general guidelines for performers, Livescape said in its statement.

Livescape said it was losing more than 1.1 million ringgit ($350,000) because of the ban. It urged the Malaysian government to "engage in a productive dialogue" with concert promoters to prevent similar incidents.

The Reverend Al Sharpton has jumped right into the middle of the Barneys controversy. The retailer is being accused of racially profiling black customers at it's New York locations.

19-year old Trayon Christian and 21-year old Kayla Phillips went to the press this week to talk about their experiences at the store. They were both detained by police after buying expensive items.

Trayon Christian, 19, in his Corona, Queens, apartment on October 22, 2013. Christian is suing Barneys and the NYPD for racial profiling and false arrest after being detained after buying a belt at Barney's store on Madison Avneue in Manhattan. (Pearl Gabel/New York Daily News)

Trayon Christian

Christian sued Barneys following an accusation of credit card fraud after using his debit card to buy a $349 Ferragamo belt in April.

Sharpton threatened on Saturday (October 26) to boycott the store if the retailer fails to respond adequately to the allegations, according to the Associated Press.

The civil rights leader said that black New Yorkers "are not going to live in a town where our money is considered suspect and everyone else's money is respected."

As we previously reported, a petition has been started calling for Jay Z to cut ties with the store. The Roc Nation mogul has a holiday collection partnership with Barneys that is set to launch on November 20.

2 Chainz recently stopped by Hartford radio station Hot 93.7 to chop it up with Jenny Boom Boom. The Atlanta star just released his sophomore album, B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time, in September but he's already recording his third album.

“I’m already working on my third album, I have a single already,” he said. “I never stop. The day my album dropped, I went to the studio.”

Tity Boi went on to discuss the 2013 BET Hip Hop Awards, being a father, his association with Cash Money and G.O.O.D. Music, and addressed the rumor that he and 50 Cent are recording an album together,

"50's a businessman, he knows how to get that dough. I already did a track for him and everything. We'll see how that pans out [but] that was my first time hearing that," the "I'm Different" rapper said, regarding rumors that he and the G-Unit mogul were working on an album together. "He's a cool dude, he's very intelligent. He comes from the hood. We have similar backgrounds."

12350418893?profile=original

2 Chainz also talked about other artists he would like to collaborate with. Jay Z is at the top of his wish list.

Are you looking forward to hearing 50 Cent's collaboration with Tity Boi? And what do you think of the possibility of the two recording an album together?

Audio After The Jump

Jay Z has been rapping about selling drugs for years, but former drug kingpin Freeway Ricky Ross believes it's all made up.

Jay talked about his drug dealing past in a recent interview with Vanity Fair's Lisa Robinson. He said the knowledge he gained from his illegal activities would help in his latest venture as a sports agent.

12350407273?profile=original

“I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer,” he told Robinson. “To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up. Or if you want to start some sort of barbershop or car wash—those were the businesses back then. Things you can get in easily to get out of [that] life. At some point, you have to have an exit strategy, because your window is very small; you’re going to get locked up or you’re going to die.”

freeway-rick-ross.jpg

Freeway Ricky, who ran a multi-million dollar drug empire in the late 80's before getting busted called Hov out during a new interview with the Murder Master Music Show,

"I've been hitting these high schools up letting them know about these dudes that's out here faking. Talking about they sold dope. And you read that sh*t and it's so corny," Ross said. "I was just reading on the airplane the other day the Vanity Fair with Jay Z in it, talking about he sold crack. Just reading that story was so corny. These dudes don't keep it 100. They was good boys and went to school and got college degrees. Somebody gave them a good job and they're doing alright right now. Everybody wanna be d-boys, but they don't have real d-boy stories. When you read what they said it looks like a news reporter wrote it for them."

12350407878?profile=original

Freeway Ricky was even more harsh in his assessment of rapper Rick Ross.

I believe [rapper Ross] is being financed by the police unions to keep spreading bullsh*t to the youngsters, so they can keep filling up the penitentiaries ," Freeway continued. "Because he ain't selling no music. They keep playing him on the radio and keep putting out these big expensive videos, but he ain't selling no music. So somebody is shitting off money. I believe it's the police unions behind it."

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Quincy Jones sued Michael Jackson's estate on Friday claiming he is owed millions in royalties and production fees on some of the superstar's greatest hits.

Jones' lawsuit seeks at least $10 million from the singer's estate and Sony Music Entertainment, claiming the entities improperly re-edited songs to deprive him of royalties and production fees. The music has been used in the film "This Is It" and a pair of Cirque du Soleil shows based on the King of Pop's songs, the lawsuit states.

Jones also claims that he should have received a producer's credit on the music in "This Is It." His lawsuit seeks an accounting of the estate's profits from the works so that Jones can determine how much he is owed.

The producer worked with Jackson on three of his most popular solo albums, "Off the Wall," ''Thriller" and "Bad."

12350413865?profile=original

Jackson's estate wrote in a statement that it was saddened by Jones' lawsuit. "To the best of its knowledge, Mr. Jones has been appropriately compensated over approximately 35 years for his work with Michael," the statement said.

An after-hours message left at Sony Music's New York offices was not immediately returned.

Jackson's hits "Billie Jean," ''Thriller" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" are among the songs Jones claims were re-edited to deprive him of royalties and his producer's fee.

Quincy Jones: 'I Have Nothing But Respect' for Kanye West

Jones' lawsuit states the producer's contracts called for him to have the first opportunity to re-edit or alter the songs, in part to protect his reputation.

STAR talks the NBA Finals format returning to 2-2-1-1-1, no longer being interested in Love & Hip Hop NY and interview with Glama (Dog House Radio) about protesting radio station Hot 97.

Radio legend Troi Torain (STAR) always delivers hard-hitting objective truth. As a culture critic he is vicious, as a businessman he is relentless, as a luminary he is un-matched.

Considered a radio pioneer by many, STAR has set precedents on the urban landscape and was recently inducted into News One's "Top 20 Black Radio Jockeys Of All Time."

STAR & BUC WILD made the national stage on MTV (1999) but it was their radio show on New York's Hot 97 and Power 105 (2000 - 2006) that secured their place in Hip-Hop history.

Torain's resume includes The Source magazine, MTV Networks, Hot 97, Power 104.1, Power 105.1, Pulse 87, Hip-Hop Weekly magazine, Vladtv, Thisis50, 100.3 The Beat, shot97.com and VH1 (The Gossip Game).

People often say I'm the moody half of Par-City but for this track I really wanted to bring some bravado while applying the same energy and lyricism that I'm known for.  This will land on my debut solo project Small Fortune which will be out before the end of this year.

Power 105.1 radio personality Charlamagne Tha God thinks those people are pretending to be outraged because it's the trendy thing to do. For that reason he's given all of them the "Donkey of the Day."
